Palembang, September 28, 2024 - The Computer Network, Enterprise and Information Security Scientific Group or commonly called COMNETS Research Group of Sriwijaya University in collaboration with the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter of Sriwijaya University held a COMNETS-ACM Student Talk Series activity with the theme How to Fiber Optic Termination. This activity invited two speakers who are lecturers at the Faculty of Computer Science UNSRI and also researchers at COMNETS RG. The speakers are Mr. Adi Hermansyah, M.T. and also Mrs. Nurul Afifah, M.Kom.

The speaker is an expert in the field of Fiber Optic as evidenced by international certification. This activity was attended by 250 students consisting of Computer Systems, Information Systems, Informatics Engineering and Computer Engineering majors either via zoom or present at the location of the activity.

The speaker was greeted with enthusiasm from the participants who paid attention to the delivery of how Fiber optic termination. The speaker directly practiced the termination assisted by the Computer Network Laboratory assistant. The termination practice begins by explaining each of the tools and materials used such as Fast Connector Fiber Optic, Fiber Optic Cable, Stripper, Cleaver, Visal Fault Locator, Optical Power Meter, and others. The hope of this practical activity is that students understand and understand fiber optic which is a transmission medium that uses glass fiber in sending information or data. To align these expectations, Mr. & Mrs. speakers provide opportunities for students to try fiber optics directly assisted by Computer Network Laboratory assistants.

COMNETS Research Group appreciated the spirit of students who succeeded in terminating both sides of the fiber optic cable quickly and precisely by giving COMNETS Hat and other souvenirs.
